Stripe Integration Overview
Stripe integration enables automatic invoicing, fiscalization and sending of invoices for payments received through the Stripe platform. Both one-time payments via web checkout cart and recurring payments via Stripe subscription invoicing are supported.
The integration works based on the Stripe WebHooks mechanism — during transactions or status changes on the Stripe account, data is automatically sent to Kigo which creates the document and fiscalizes it.
Supported external systems
Besides direct Stripe payments, we automatically recognize and fiscalize payments arriving through Stripe from these platforms:
- Thinkific — online course platform
- Wix — websites and webshop
- Bokun — tour and activity bookings
- Other platforms — any payment carrying standard metadata (email, order number, items) alongside the Stripe transaction is recognized automatically
Alongside Stripe, Kigo integrates directly with WooCommerce and Shopify webshops and offers a REST API for connecting your own systems.
Setting Up the WebHook
Procedure for creating a Stripe WebHook:
- Log in to the Stripe Dashboard at
dashboard.stripe.com. - Open Developers → Webhooks and click Add destination.
- In the Select events step, choose the events you want to monitor:
- invoice.payment_succeeded — when payment is successfully completed
- invoice.created — when an invoice is created on Stripe
- invoice.sent — when an invoice is sent to the customer
- payment_intent.succeeded — when a payment without an invoice is successfully confirmed
- Select Webhook endpoint as the destination type.
- In the Endpoint URL field, paste the address from the Kigo Stripe settings.
- Click Create destination to save.
API Key and Stripe Invoicing
For advanced integration (Stripe Invoicing), a secret API key is needed that allows Kigo to retrieve additional data from the Stripe system.
Procedure for obtaining the API key:
- In the Stripe Dashboard, open Developers → API keys.
- Click Create secret key and enter a name (e.g. Kigo).
- Copy the displayed secret key — it is shown only once.
- In Kigo, open the Stripe Invoicing tab Settings and enter the key in the designated field.
Important: Do not share the secret API key or send it via email.
Benefits of Stripe Invoice Integration
Webhook events that Stripe sends often do not contain all information needed to create an invoice (customer name, email, order items). By entering the secret API key, you enable Kigo to automatically supplement this data by retrieving it from the Stripe system.
Additional capabilities include:
- Retrieving detailed invoice line items from Stripe invoices
- Linking orders to real customers
- Tracking payment status
- Initiating refund issuance
FAQ and Notes
- Can I use only WebHook without an API key? Yes, basic integration via WebHook works without an API key, but invoice data may be incomplete (e.g. customer name may be missing).
- Does Stripe send test requests? Yes, after creating the WebHook, Stripe sends test requests so you can verify the integration is working correctly.
- Which event to select for payment_intent.succeeded? This event is supported, but contact support for additional configuration information.
- What if the integration doesn't work? Verify the URL in the Stripe Dashboard, review the webhook delivery log and contact Kigo support.
